Celebrating its 23rd birthday, this renowned event brings everyone out in Ashdon and beyond, attracting runners from far and wide. The run is the school PTA’s biggest fundraiser, raising in excess of £4500 annually to help fund various projects and buy much needed equipment for our small village school.
It’s on Bank Holiday Monday 6 May, from 9am with the starting gun sounding at 10.30am.
So if you fancy a bit of a challenge, there are several run options with something for everyone:
- The 10K run is challenging, primarily off-road route, over farmland and across our beautiful countryside. It’s much loved by runners because of the terrain variety and because it now has chip timing, giving greater accuracy
- The 3K run with chip timing offers a chance for runners, young and old, to time themselves across 3K route. Again, only a small section of this route in on the road
- And finally the 3K Fun Run is for everyone – including those in pushchairs and the dog! The whole family can walk / jog / run the route however quickly or slowly they choose!
Everyone across the finish line receives a medal and there are trophies awarded for those who place in the 10K run and the children who win the 3K timed race.
The feedback we receive year on year from those who participate is that it’s one of their favourite run events. From the warm welcome and fantastic organisation to the cheerful marshals en route to the homemade cakes at the finish, it’s a wonderful showcase for the school and the village.
